Information about polypeptide concentrates (PPT)
Peptides (Greek: πεπτος " nutritious») — a family of substances whose molecules are constructed from two or more amino acid residues connected to a chain by peptide (amide) bonds-C (O) NH -. Peptides consisting of α-amino acids are usually meant, but the term does not exclude peptides derived from any other aminocarboxylic acids[1].
Peptides whose sequence is shorter than about 10-20 amino acid residues can also be called oligopeptides (from other Greek ὀλγγος "small"); with a longer sequence length, they are called polypeptides (from Greek πολυ - "many"); polypeptides can have non-amino acid fragments in the molecule, for example, carbohydrate residues. Proteins are usually called polypeptides containing approximately 50 amino acid residues [2] with a molecular weight of more than 5000[3], 6000[4] or 10000[5] [6] daltons.
